4th Dimension Development was founded by Brian Hawthorne, John Hawthorne, and Kevin Gitter. Inspired by Brian and Kevin in 2015 while traveling eastern Europe.
After visiting some of Earth’s most beautiful places, world travelers Brian and Kevin came home to the Woodward corridor with a renewed commitment to their design work, bringing influences from their travels to every project. They have a passion for expertly infusing hints of unique style and function from around the world into their work.
The mission was simple; create a construction company that would provide them with creativity, flexibility and gratitude while still allowing them to maintain their interests in travel. Leaning on their general contracting and finished carpentry backgrounds, they bought their first home in Ferndale and 4th Dimension Development was born.
Over the past seven years, 4D2 has grown a completely self-funded operation, started by builders and carpenters into its own vision of a high-quality construction company. They develop properties and rebuild homes with experienced craftsmen, the highest quality standards all with attractive designs. 4D2 only builds and renovates homes that they would want to live in.

2015
Idea for 4D2 was conceived.
While traveling in Eastern Europe Brian and Kevin first discuss about flipping homes in Michigan.
2016
First home purchased in Ferndale.
Brian and Kevin find a run-down home in Ferndale Michigan, which later be the headquarters from 4th Dimension Development, as well as their homes.
2016
4th Dimension Development is Born
4th Dimension becomes an officially licensed business
2017
First Ferndale Home Complete!
After one vigorous first year in business, the first 4th Dimension renovation project was finished and sold for an area record setting price!
2017
First new construction project begins
We take the leap from rehabbing existing to homes to trying new Construction. Land is purchased in Ferndale!
2018
First new construction complete
After one year, first new construction project is completed, once again sold for an area record setting price!
2018
4th Dimension expands into Royal Oak
Entering the Royal Oak market, a second and larger new construction project begins. City of Royal Oak becomes a primary location for 4D2 developments.
2019
Ferndale Headquarters Established
After years of having a tiny office in Rochester, 4th Dimension Development becomes local to primary markets of Ferndale and Royal Oak.
2021
4D2 adds 6 team members
With a rapid growth and high demand for housing 4th Dimension adds team members!
2022
4D2 Completes 45th Property
The sale of 4th Dimension Development Company’s 45th developed or renovated property closes.
